Tales Of An Imperfectly Perfect Girl

While we were still trying to drag our lazy bodies out of bed, the soldiers were in our rooms already. No room for slacking, we were given 5 minutes to get dressed and get ready for the morning session. After leaving, we were instructed to go for devotion, from there we went to parade ground, grouped according to our watches, we were to have daily leaders amongst ourselves. The interesting part, we were all clueless for the first day so it went funny but eventful as these leaders were put through. After the morning parade, we were asked to go change into our swimming suits.

What?! We already heard rumours, it’s not like we had a pool around us, so we knew our fates already. Wait! My cheeest! You strong soldiers can’t throw we kiddies into this water. In the thought of all these, some people were in tears already😂.
The good thing about it was, there were life jackets which we weren’t allowed to fix by ourselves, there were aides, and life savers in the water, all soldiers. There were also two aides to help you jump into the water, by help I mean they pushed the scared ones into the water, the only thing you know is you find yourself almost drowning, thanks to the force of pushing you into the water. But of course, life jackets pushes you up. While I was trying to think about my life, I saw my friends chanting forgiveness to all those who offended her, asking for forgiveness from God and her mom, she’d never disobey God or disrespect her mom again😂😂. Confession hours amidst tears, baby girl said she doesn’t wanna die😂😂. While I was laughing at her, all I could remember was me going deep into the water and a very banging headache when I was afloat! That headache lasted the whole day, I found my way to the rope, directly behind my friends and another dramatic friend behind me😂😂. They made me forget my headache as I laughed till I felt tears stream down my cheeks. A lot of funny events happened that day, after the diving session, we were to go get our breakfast of egg sauce, bread and tea. There’s always “extra”, so you don’t ever get to say you were not okay. After breakfast, we freshened up for other events, the evening was serene, with lights illuminating the Island from the Ships, the peaceful whooshing sound of water, and strolling with friends to the mammy. This was where I spent all my money, especially on sandwich.

The day went by so fast, first day was exhausting but lovely. I couldn’t wait to find out what’s left for us to do, though I had a pretty good idea it was going to be a very stressful one. So yes, the next day came and it was same wake up call, except the diving part. Instead we got a memo of what our activities for the 2 weeks was going to be. Competitions, lectures, arts and skills acquisition. It was not going to be a joke. My least favourite of all was lecture, we hadn’t started but I had a pretty good idea it was going to be boring. Isn’t that the case of all these lectures? They get unnecessarily long and boring, and in case you are wondering, I was right. The lecture periods were the least favorite for majority. We ended up sleeping and chatting away.
Nonetheless, I’d never strip you off the most interesting parts. Especially the part where my rebel self can’t hide. *sighs*.
