Now A Slave

“You are your state of mind”. That is one big truth that has been the driving force of every individual, whether consciously or unconsciously and just like being a hero is a state of mind, so is being a slave.”
She reflected on these words as the truth gradually presented itself to her and she saw how far she has been in darkness as the scales were gradually falling off. She is a slave but didn’t know it, she is a victim but ignorant of it, because her insight has been bought with those flashy and fascinating things which took away her pride and originality. She heard the cry of a new baby and it brought back the memories of the days she was born to love, the culture she embraced because they were so real, the lifestyle she swam in because there were no boundaries and restrictions. All of a sudden, came those people who seemed to have all things in place and gracefully took her away with their appearances and language. At first, she was resistant, but, with a little more effort from them, she let down her guard and that marked her journey as a slave.
She looked at the brightness of the sky and understood better than every other person that happiness lays in independence and independence in happiness but unfortunately, she has lost both. She, an independent entity at a time, has been brought to point she can’t take a step without the approval of these demons in angelic robes. Her life has become just a subject of theirs, living it just as they have ordered. They took her goods, money, language, religion, pride and culture. She was in one word, colonized.
The drop of rain that fell on her, opened, her eyes completely and unlike every other person in her, she could see their presence brought slavery wrapped in freedom. She understood better than anyone that her freedom lies in her originality, which has been taken away from her.
She now knows these things but every other person seem to be comfortable in their slavery. She wants to open their eyes, but they seem to be in love with that blindness.
She will tell them someday, but when that someday will come, she has no idea.
