It was very fascinating watching the young boy act in films and he even carries lines that we find rather difficult. Now, he’s grown and it is time to find out how he could captivate us to well as a young boy.
His name is Samuel Olaoluwa Olaseinde, aka omo Ajirebi @samuelajirebi. This young boy who is now in his mid-twenties and was born July 16 attended Aunty Ajoke Nursery and Primary School (now Beryl), where he was before moving to GEC international Nursery and Primary school and then GEC Comprehensive College. He graduated from secondary school and proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo (university) where he read Law. His career as an actor started at the age of five (5), in which he featured in films such as Arowolo (which earned him his first International Award as the best kid actor of the year [1999/2000]), Ige Adubi, Oshodi Oke, Narrow Path and Ija Omode amongst many others. According to him, several factors aided his career as a child, out of which included that his father is an actor and he was a very playful kid. He mentioned that the producers of Oshodi Oke needed a child actor, of which they had tried several kids but none of them could meet up to their expectations. They came to see his dad one day and saw the playful kid, which geared them to give him a shot. They felt he could play the role well and before he knew it, he was in several other films. Having left the film industry for a while to go to school, the transition period has been one of the major challenges he has had to face, :we knew the boy; right now, I have to put in extra effort to get my foot fully back in the industry”.
Many people still get to ask how he was able to carry those lines and he explained that his inquisitive nature as a child helped him a whole lot. He stated that he got to always ask the person teaching him what each line meant and why he had to say those lines. So, once that is explained, the situation seemed so real to him and he was not totally conscious it was a film. It was real life to him and this attributed to the extra actions like rolling of eyes etc. that he added to the lines.
People expect that having a background like that, he would have read Theatre Arts instead of Law but he explained that his need to be versatile pushed him to study law. Nonetheless, because of his passion for theatre and because he has noticed that the industry is Intellectually Wealthy but financially poor, he decided to major in Intellectual Property Law.
Also, importantly, he never really left the film world as he has been in some other films in recent times, such as Adura amongst few others.
To him, those of have influenced him in the industry include Gabriel Afolayan (because of his legendary acting skills), Ibrahim Chatta (because he is such a delight to watch) and Kunle Afolayan (because of his attitude to filmmaking). As an actor, he is unique because he is very open to discovery; so with each passing day, there is something new to discover about him, which will make him fascinating always. The Holy Spirit inspires him because He makes him understand how and when to take an action. He asks everyone to anticipate to see him more in movies and the production of his personal films too.
Finally, he says to all his fans that; “Be true to your process. Give it all it takes, but do not give it all you have. Make sure you don’t lose yourself in the quest for success.”
Nice one, looking forward to acting with him someday
